Bancroft partner Paul Clement was named a Litigator of the Week for securing a Second Circuit ruling in favor of COMMISA, a Mexican subsidiary of KBR, Inc. The decision follows a decade of litigation and affirmed a judgement in excess of $465 million against Mexico’s state-owned oil company, Pemex.

Harris published an article in Law360 entitled “High Court Reminder: The U.S. Is Not The World’s Policeman.” The authors discuss the domestic and international implications of the Supreme Court’s recent decision in RJR v. European Community, arguing that “[i]f the U.S. expects other countries to respect its sovereignty, then it must extend the same respect to those countries, and must not seek to use U.S. law to police conduct that takes place abroad.

Bancroft attorneys argued before the Supreme Court more than any other firm this term, appearing at the lectern on eight separate occasions. Bancroft partner Paul Clement argued six times, and partner Erin Murphy argued twice. Murphy was the only woman outside the Office of the Solicitor General with two arguments this term.
Bancroft won five cases before the U.S. Supreme Court during the 2015 term, including as amici.
