Candice Chiu is an associate at Bancroft PLLC. Ms. Chiu previously served as a law clerk to Associate Justices Sandra Day O’Connor (Ret.) and Sonia M. Sotomayor in the Supreme Court of the United States and Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Ms. Chiu worked in the national appellate practice of King & Spalding LLP from 2009 to 2011.
Ms. Chiu’s practice focuses on appellate litigation and strategic counseling. Ms. Chiu has briefed over a dozen matters in the Supreme Court of the United States, writing merits briefs, petitions for certiorari, briefs in opposition, and amicus curiae briefs on a wide range of constitutional and statutory issues. Additionally, she has briefed cases in the federal courts of appeals and prepared motions, including dispositive motions, in federal district courts, state courts, and the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. Ms. Chiu has also served as lead counsel in an 11th Circuit criminal case. Her matters have spanned such subjects as federal preemption, class certification, FDA regulation, Indian law, and the First Amendment.
Ms. Chiu is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she served as Supreme Court Chair of the Harvard Law Review, and Harvard College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Chiu also received the American Inns of Court Foundation’s 2012 Temple Bar Scholarship.
