International Brotherhood of Teamsters

Bancroft represented the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in litigation related to a 1989 consent decree, which instituted disciplinary procedures, electoral processes, and government oversight for the union.  Bancroft successfully negotiated the end of this decree, which was formally terminated on February 17, 2015, pursuant to a settlement agreement entered into between the Teamsters and the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.  Under the settlement agreement, the government’s role in the Teamsters’ internal affairs will be phased out over a five-year period, ending in February 2020.
